Wale- Rap's Next Big Thing?

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but this will more than make up for it. My roommate (check out his blog HERE) and I have been listening to this mixtape of a new rapper on the scene, Wale. He mixes some great beats with an extremely relaxed flow that is reminiscent of Lil Wayne. Most of this mixtape is just awesome- especially the W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E mix, Warming Up Cane and Smile Remix. Okay so the last link didn't work so here's a couple other options.

Slumdog Millionaire

Just went to see Slumdog Millionaire and if you haven't seen it yet, GO SEE IT NOW! I loved this film. The main character, Jamal, is an Indian teen who grew up in the slums of Mumbai and is on the Indian version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? Authorities are suspicious of his success and accuse him of cheating. The movie does an excellent job of bouncing back and forth from events happening in the present and events that have shaped Jamal and resulted in him knowing the answers to the questions in the show. It revolves around his lost love Latika and his quest to find her despite his struggle to survive in the slums alongside his violent brother. I don't want to give away too much of the plot because it truly is an amazing movie and I could not do it any service. Another reason that it is an amazing movie is the female lead, Freida Pinto. Lets just say she is one of the most beautiful women in the world and let the pictures do the talking...

The Official- Jaylib (J Dilla and MadLib).... have you heard of this collaboration BY? Unfortunately J Dilla died in 2006 of cardiac arrest but the group was great for their one album, Champion Sound. Check it out.




Fakin the Funk- Main Source. This is from back in 1992 but it has a great upbeat feel to it and has a nice old school rap sound.




Braggin' and Boastin'- Sound Providers (feat. Little Brother). This song has a great jazzy beat and Little Brother is a great group that my roommate turned me onto this past year. A great jam.

Kanye's Blog

If you haven't seen it yet, here is Kanye West's blog.

It is great how much he posts on it and it has some great pictures of new fashion, architecture, art, technology and beautiful women all saying, "Where are you Yeezy?" Add to that some great tracks that he puts on the site, not only of him, but of a lot of other artists and you have the winning formula for a great blog.
